UTS students participate in 27 sports clubs ranging from tae kwon do and outdoor adventure to more traditional athletics and rowing clubs. Students who prefer a solitary approach to exercise can use the UTS Union Fitness Centre which houses the University Gym and squash courts.

More than 60 social clubs and societies offer students a chance to meet other students in a fun and relaxed environment. Clubs focus on bringing like-minded students together through religion, music or cultural similarities.

UTS is a secular institution, but recognises and supports students in their faith. A visiting chaplaincy representing various faiths and traditions is provided at UTS. Prayer rooms with washing facilities are available
