The University of Canberra is one of Australia’s new generation universities. Established nearly 40 years ago in Canberra, the nation’s capital city. UC has developed a strong reputation for its education programs and applied research, which are focused on the needs of the professions.

Courses are offered at bachelor, masters (coursework or research), PhD and professional doctorate levels. The University offers flexibility in both its teaching formats and in credit transfers from other institutions. UC also boasts strong international connections, with approximately 1200 international students from over 80 countries.

Canberra itself is a small and vibrant city, offering all the benefits of metropolitan living without the traffic, pollution and expenses associated with larger cities. Home to many of the countries most important cultural, historical and political sights; Canberra is a livable, friendly city with a young and lively population.

There are a large number of sporting activities available to students at UC including athletics, soccer, netball, rugby and cricket. Recreational clubs include archery, tennis, and outdoors. The Sports Centre provides top quality equipment and experienced and qualified instructors offering weight training, aerobics and a variety of team sports.

UC is co-located with the Australian Institute of Sport. The AIS international standard swimming complex is open to the public.

UC has a vibrant social life with bars, restaurants and bands. The UC Union, of which all students are automatically members, organises countless clubs and societies. These groups include Social (the Film Production Society, the LAN Games Society). Academic (the Advertising Society, the Industrial Design club) and Cultural (Japan Club, Muslim Student Association, Thai Society)

Some of Australia’s most important cultural, historical and political landmarks including the National Library, the Australian War Memorial, the houses of Parliament and National Gallery of Australia are located in Canberra. Every year Canberra hosts a number of festivals including the National Folk Festival, the Multicultural Festival and the Canberra International Film Festival.

At UC we have spiritual advisers are available to meet the pastoral, personal and spiritual needs of our students. We have spiritual advisers for most major faiths and they can connect students with the local religious and spiritual community.
