Murdoch University - Student Profile

My name is Roan; I have been at MurdochUniversity for two years. I chose Perth over Melbourne and Sydney for many reasons: the weather is amazing, Murdoch campus is in between Perth city and Fremantle and is located very close to the beach. Life is cheaper, people are laid back, beautiful Rottnest is just a ferry-ride away from the cultural beehive that Fremantle represents.
As for Campus itself it’s awesome. Bush court, Walter’s café, Murdoch Tavern and the various department common rooms are constantly teeming with life. What tipped the balance for me was the friendliness of Murdoch staff and their willingness to help during the application process. When I got here it didn’t stop. There are a lot of international students here and everyone is very understanding. Especially when homesickness kicks in (it happens, but not for long, trust me.)
I’m now half way through third year Vet. It’s a very demanding course to say the least, but challenge and fun. We have a referral clinic and a farm on campus and the lecturers are approachable and supportive..
Perth and its surroundings have so much to offer. Whether you like sports, dancing, martial arts, sightseeing, bush walking, surfing or just socializing. Try out Capoeira or Ninjukai Taijutsu, or why not give Rock-climbing, African dancing or Didgeridoo playing a go? It’s all waiting for you here in Perth, the true multicultural melting pot ‘down under’.
